We took a bite out of the Big Apple
We had a 14 hour layover in New York and we definitely weren't going to spend it in an airport so we hopped on a train and hit the big city. It was the first time for both of us and we were not disappointed.
With only about 10 hours to see the sights, we took on New York. Our first stop
was Times Square where we were able to take in a military band that was playing. Then we walked toward Central Park and stopped and shared a fabulous pastrami sandwich at Angela's Sandwich Shop |

Remember...
The one place we knew we had to visit was the 9/11 Memorial. While we did not have time to see the museum, it was important that we be there. That day left an indelible mark on the hearts of all Americans who lived through it. A somber but necessary moment on our trip.
We headed to Battery Park next to see if we could see Lady Liberty but first we
stopped at Eataly to get our Italian adventure started. What an amazing place!
All things Italian under one roof. We HAD to try an Affogato...two scoops of gelato
covered in two shots of Espresso and covered in whipped cream! YUM!!

Finally we made it to Battery Park and saw the Statue of Liberty out in the harbor.
What a perfect way to say goodbye for now before heading back to the airport!

A Dreamy Flight
We flew Norwegian Airlines on a 787 Dreamliner and it was a wonderful flight and a great price. From the cabin air helping to reduce fatigue to the changing cabin lighting to help with rest, it was quite and experience. My favorite part of the flight was the 30% larger dimmable windows!
